FAQ - Common Questions
An eSIM is a digital SIM that lets you activate a mobile plan without a physical SIM card. You simply scan a QR code to get connected instantly
After purchase, you’ll receive an email with your QR code and setup instructions. Scan it using your phone’s camera or go to Settings › Mobile Data › Add eSIM to activate.
You can install your eSIM before you travel (while connected to Wi-Fi). Your eSIM will then activate automatically when you arrive and your phone connects to the local network — no extra steps needed. Your validity period starts from that first connection.
Yes — most newer phones let you store multiple eSIMs and switch between them easily.
For example, you can install your Japan eSIM, Australia eSIM, and Europe eSIM before you leave NZ, then activate the right one when you arrive in each country.
👉 Just note:
- Only one data eSIM can be active at a time.
- Your 73 Fly eSIM will start counting days only when it first connects at your destination.
If you’re visiting several countries in one trip, we also have multi-country plans (like Asia 7 Country or Europe 30 + Countries) — these automatically connect as you cross borders.
Yes, most plans support personal hotspot — perfect for sharing data with your laptop or other devices.
Our eSIMs are data-only, which means they don’t include a local phone number and can’t make or receive traditional phone calls or SMS texts over mobile networks.
However, you can still make calls and send messages using data-based apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Messenger, Telegram, or Skype — just as you would on Wi-Fi.
If someone needs to call you, they can reach you on those same apps while you’re connected to your 73 Fly eSIM.
In short: You’ll stay fully connected — just through internet-based calling rather than standard mobile voice or text.
Our Unlimited Plans give you uninterrupted data every day — no hard stops or surprise cut-offs.
Each day includes 1 GB of high-speed data for things like maps, social media, and video calls.
Once you’ve used your daily 1 GB, speeds are reduced for fair use, so you can still message, email, and check travel info without losing connection.
Your high-speed allowance resets every 24 hours, keeping you online for your entire trip.
What can I do before speeds slow down?
1 GB of fast data covers a typical traveller’s day, including:
✅ Several hours of maps and navigation
✅ All-day messaging and browsing
✅ A few hours of email or social-media use
✅ Around 30–60 minutes of video calls or streaming
After throttling, you’ll stay connected for essentials — perfect for directions, bookings, or quick messages — just at a slower speed until your daily reset.
